Columbia, SCTwo vehicles collide at the intersection of Huger Street and Taylor Street around 1pm Friday. The traffic light at the intersection was taken out during the accident, causing traffic to move slowly in the area. Two people involved in the collision were transported to the hospital. One driver has suffered broken bones while the condition of the other person is currently unknown. One of the driver's has been cited for running a red light and driving under suspension.

Columbia, SCWillie Wade Harsey was driving on Whiskey Road when he went to cross Neely Wingard Road, not stopping at a stop sign. His vehicle was struck by a Ford Escape that was traveling west on Neely Wingard, and he died at the scene. His passenger was injured. Two people in the Ford Escape were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Troopers say that Harsey was not wearing a seat belt.

Columbia, SCSC Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash at approximately 4:30 December 31 at the intersection of Highway 178 and Fairview Road. A Honda heading north on Fairview Road ran a stop sign and was hit by a tractor-trailer traveling on Highway 178. The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The victim is identified as Andy Anderson, 29, of Monetta, South Carolina. The accident is currently under investigation.
