A driver fleeing police Friday collided head-on with another car, bailed out on foot, then failed to scale a fence before throwing himself to the ground and surrendering to police. The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Carl Smith. The pursuit started just before 3 p.m. near Florence Avenue and Flower Street in South Los Angeles, police said. The pursuit wound through streets for about 30 minutes. At one point the vehicle nearly hit a truck. The chase transitioned to the Century (105) Freeway, clocking speeds of 100, before going back onto the streets.

Two people were killed in a head-on, wrong-way crash in Henry County during a chase that started in Rockingham County early Friday morning. The crash happened in the northbound lanes near Morehead Avenue in Ridgeway, WSLS reported. The names of neither driver have been released. According to a statement from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, a deputy began chasing a black Ford F-150 pickup truck that was driving erratically on Martinsville Loop Road in Stoneville. It got onto Hwy. 220 and started going northbound in the southbound lanes, deputies said.

A driver led La Mesa police on a chase Wednesday night that entered Lemon Grove and ended in a crash and arrest. No one was injured. At around 9:35 p.m. a La Mesa officer observed a driver in a white Dodge Charger run a stop sign at Waite Drive and Harris Street. The driver ignored the officer’s attempt to pull him over, kicking off a chase on state Highway 94 and city streets. The Dodge’s driver turned off his lights and attempted to lose officers by running stop signs and red traffic signals, according to a statement from La Mesa police.

A police chase through Fort Bend County and the rollover that ended the chase was all caught on camera. A passer-by caught the tail-end of the chase on their cell phone. The chase started Saturday morning when a Richmond police officer tried to pull over a man that had two felony warrants. Instead of pulling over, the driver took off, leading police on a high-speed chase through Fort Bend, Wharton and Austin Counties. The man eventually crashed his SUV in Rosenberg after losing control.

A teenager has died and two other people were injured after a crash early Thursday in Nashville that followed a short police pursuit. One person was killed and two others were injured after a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Nashville. Police say a Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen and identified from several armed robberies was spotted by officers who attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
