19-year-old Brody M. Austin was riding a motorcycle with a group when he for some reason lost control of his vehicle and hit the curb at Gateway Boulevard and Townhall Road. Though he was wearing a helmet at the time, Austin died of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Beloit police said a 47-year-old Beloit woman has died after a man struck and killed her while trying to flee officers Sunday.

The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of 10th Street in the city of Beloit.

According to police, officers went to a residence on 10th in connection to an unwanted person complaint. When they arrived, they attempted to take the suspect, Christopher Rutherford, 40, of Beloit into custody.

A 22-year-old Beloit driver died early Sunday after he fled from police, hit another vehicle and crashed into a pole, Beloit police reported.

The man's passenger, a 22-year-old Beloit woman, was critically injured, while two people in the other vehicle suffered no injuries.

An officer attempted to stop the man's vehicle on Fourth St., just south of Portland Ave., about 2 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release. The vehicle turned westbound onto Roosevelt Ave. and sped away.

Two people killed when a Jeep SUV crashed into a utility pole in the Town of Beloit were identified by police Monday as the driver, Pablo A. Villareal, 22, and his passenger, Alex J. Nelson, 25, both of Janesville. The vehicle was traveling south on state Highway 51 near Briar Lane about 3 a.m. Sunday when it ran off the road and hit the pole, according to a Rock County sheriff's office news release. Alcohol and distracted driving may have been factors in the crash, Town of Beloit police said Monday.
