Man Arrested in Fatal Beloit Accident

BELOIT (WIFR) -- A Beloit man is in custody after killing someone while driving drunk last night. Beloit police have arrested 33-year-old Chad Hummel of Beloit for Homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and a probation hold after he struck and killed a driver of a car last night. The driver of the minivan, 82 year old Eldon L. Bailey of Beloit, was pronounced dead on the scene. Three passengers in his car were taken to Beloit Memorial. Two were treated and released; one still remains in the hospital.

BELOIT, Wis. (AP) — A 33-year-old Beloit man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle in connection with a crash that killed an 82-year-old man. Police determined the 33-year-old was intoxicated and speeding. The driver of the minivan was killed. He was identified as 82-year-old Eldon Bailey of Beloit. The suspect was westbound on West Grand Avenue near Hackett Street when he ran a stop sign and hit a minivan driving north in the intersection.

My prayers go out to Eldon bailey and his family, I'm a friend of Chad hummell and I want to say I've never met a guy with a bigger heart. Family means a lot to him so I know this is weighing terribly on his conscious. this was all an extremely tragic mistake. I wish everyone involved the best of luck. And I'm asking you keep Chad in your prayers too. They say the worst mistakes in life are the ones you can't take back...
