A 24-year-old Carlsbad man was arrested on hit-and-run and other charges after he allegedly crashed a car near Chestnut Avenue and Spanish Way, knocked over a power pole and drove off early Saturday morning, police said.

Police said Oscar Pereyra was arrested about an hour and a half later at a house along Park Drive near Monroe Street.

The accident occurred about 6:10 a.m., when Pereyra is accused of slamming into a retaining wall and cutting power to about four houses in the neighborhood.
