Torres was struck by an SUV that failed to stay at the scene and offer assistance, then by an ambulance carrying another victim, and lastly, as investigators later found out, a dark colored sedan. New York, NYWinnifred Matthias, 77, of East Flatbush, died in Brooklyn Monday after being hit by a dump truck. The accident occured around 12:25 p.m. when Matthias was walking on the double yellow line on Flatbush Avenue, in the middle of the road, between Atlantic and 4th Avenues. The dump truck driver remained at the scene. Matthias aws taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
