One person died and another injured after a freight train collided with a stationary train between Midway and Dexter early Tuesday near State Road 2 and Vista Largo Road around 6:15 a.m. Six locomotives and three freight cars derailed in the collision. A train was traveling southbound from Clovis to Carlsbad when it hit a stationary, unoccupied train. 48-year-old Jesse T. Coburn III, from Texico, N.M., died in the collision. The second member of the train crew was transported to Lubbock for treatment of injuries and is in stable condition.
