According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 23-year-old Leighton J. Rowe was eastbound on I-90 in a Ford F-150 when the vehicle left the roadway, went through a barbed wire fence, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed in flames. Rowe, of Pasco, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident, which occurred at 2:49 a.m. Monday, is under investigation.

Brooklin M. Sims was driving on Interstate 90 on Monday night when she struck a military Humvee, causing it to roll off the highway. The driver of the Humvee, Christopher J. Truss, and passenger Randall L. King, were taken to KVH Hospital in Ellensburg where they were treated and released. Sims was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is in stable condition.

A sleepy driver is blamed for a single-car accident on Interstate 90 on Monday morning that injured a Cowiche couple. Edward A. Cella, 71, fell asleep and drifted to the left. When Cella awoke up, he overcorrected, causing his 2004 Toyota Matrix to roll over. Cella and his passenger, Carol A. Cella, 70, were taken to Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue. The State Patrol said it is recommending a second-degree negligent driving citation.
