Michigan State Police have identified the speeding motorcyclist who died May 24 during a police chase when he crashed into a pickup and caused both vehicles to catch on fire in Eastpointe. State troopers tried to stop James Morris Freeman III, 33, for a traffic violation around 3:50 p.m. for reckless driving on westbound I-94 near 10 Mile Road, according to a police news release. Freeman, driving a 1996 Suzuki motorcycle, looked back at the patrol vehicle in his mirrors and then maneuvered between cars stopped at the red light.
