For the second time in little more than a week, a suspected driver under the influence is accused of causing a traffic accident in Galveston, injuring a police officer.

The most recent incident was early Sunday morning.

"It totaled out one of our units and slightly injured the officer and the deputy she was riding with," Galveston police chief Henry Porretto said.

Galveston police officer Ashton Gill and Galveston County deputy David Rojas, were not seriously injured.

Police identified Douglas Ashmore as the driver of the other vehicle.
