A woman is recovering from serious injuries after she was hit by a car while trying to cross a street. Harris County sheriff's deputies said the woman tried to cross FM 1960 near Cypress Station around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the woman was not in the crosswalk at the time she was hit. Officials said a man, who was driving with his wife, did not see the woman and hit her. The driver stopped and waited for officers to arrive at the scene. Investigators said the driver had been drinking, but were not certain if he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

The man killed in a crash that shut down the Southwest Freeway on Monday afternoon was driving erratically when he struck a postal truck, Houston police say.

Police on Tuesday identified the victim as 61-year-old Dan Winfrey.

He was driving a red Jeep Cherokee southbound on the freeway when he hit a U.S. Postal Service 18-wheeler near Chimney Rock, police said.

A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition at a San Antonio, Tex., hospital after he was struck by an 18-wheeler and dragged along a road as he walked to school early Monday.

The junior at O'Connor High School in Helotes, suffered "significant injuries" and was in surgery at University Hospital at around noon, school and police officials said.

His name was not released.

Authorities said the boy was walking to school along Leslie Rd. at around 8:30 a.m. when a friend stopped and offered him a ride.

An Irving woman faces intoxication manslaughter charges after a Saturday night car crash that killed two of her children and injured two others.

Irving police said Crystal Suniga, 30, lost control of her sport utility vehicle and slammed into two parked cars across from Gilbert Elementary School in the 1500 block of East Pioneer Drive at around 8 p.m.

Police spokesman James McLellan said Suniga's two sons — identified by family members as 14-year-old Angel Reyes and 10-year-old Ricardo Hernandez — were dead at the scene.

One woman was killed in a crash in north Harris County early Saturday morning.

It happened around 2 am on the North Freeway near Dominion Park.

Deputies say a woman was driving with a man in the passenger seat when she lost control and slammed into a tree. They were both trapped inside.

She died at the scene. Her passenger was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The crash is under investigation.

A 22-year-old man died early Friday morning after he drove away from police during a traffic stop and then slammed into trees and a parked car in southeast Houston, officials said.

The incident occurred about 12:05 a.m. in the 7600 block of Moline near Poplar, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the man was driving a Lincoln Town Car when officers tied to stop him because the car had incorrect license plates on it. But, police said, the man refused to stop. Offices followed him.

A motorcyclist is in the hospital after falling 25 feet from an overpass.

Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the accident around 12:45 p.m. Thursday on South Interstate 35 in Onion Creek.

EMS says a man on a motorcycle heading northbound on I-35 struck a guard rail on the overpass and fell 25 feet.

First responders say the man has non-life theatening injuries and was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge.

An Army combat medic was first on the scene and administered first aid before EMS arrived.

There was a brief delay in rail service after a Metro Rail train slammed into a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near NRG Park, formerly known as Reliant Park.

The crash caused no fatalities.

The train was headed southbound on Fannin about 4 p.m. and the crossing arms were down when the collision happened.

"The driver of the vehicle was on Naomi and went around the gate and so the train hit the vehicle," Metro spokeswoman Carolina Mendoza said.

Four individuals in the vehicle were transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.

A Dallas police officer is dead after a motorcycle crash in Waxahachie on Wednesday.

The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. on West Road.

The driver lost control of the motorcycle while crossing a wooden trestle bridge and fell into a dry creek bed where he lost his life, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Sr. Cpl. David Myers, 56, was a 27-year veteran with the Dallas Police Department, was killed in the crash.

It is unknown was caused Myers to lose control.

A former San Antonio police detective died Wednesday morning in a four-vehicle crash in Wilson County east of Floresville.

Investigators said the pile-up began just after 9 a.m. when Robert Lazcano, 67, driving a Chevrolet pickup eastbound on Highway 97 four miles east of Floresville, slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting a dog in the road.

A tractor pulling a flatbed trailer rear-ended the pickup, sending it into the westbound lane where it collided head-on with a Honda SUV driven by Roger Miller, 68.
