Patrick Ronald O’Donoghue, 41, of San Francisco, died when his motorcycle crashed with a pickup Friday evening on Highway 175 east of Hopland. O’Donoghue was traveling eastbound at about 7:30 p.m. when the motorcycle slid into the oncoming traffic lane and crashed into a Ford F-250. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

20-year-old Brandon Doty was driving on Old River Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crashed into a metal gate, which cause the car to flip over. While Doty was uninjured, his passenger Tyler Shepard complained of pain and was airlifted to the hospital. Police believe that Doty was driving too fast to safely take the curve.

Gabriel Ray, 18, of Ukiah, was driving a 1996 Honda Accord north on Old River Road north of Hopland when he crashed into five cyclists as they traveled single-file on the edge of the roadway. The victims are Mark Clifford, 60, of Los Altos; Michael Sokolsky, 53, of San Mateo; Laura Stern, 52, of Menlo Park; Lawrence Sokolsky, 54, of Portola Valley; and Deborah Banks, 57, of Sacramento. The crash occurred as Ray exited a curve in the road and hit the back of Banks’ bike. Ray continued driving, crashing into each cyclist.
