The incident began at about 3 a.m. Monday when police in Brockton approached a vehicle honking its horn in a residential neighborhood. As police approached, the car took off and after a short pursuit, struck a utility pole on West Main Street in neighboring Avon. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Three people were taken to the hospital, two of whom had life-threatening injuries. Check back for details on this developing story.
