It was about 5:40 p.m. when David Schleede, 57, was riding a bicycle with a group of 15 other cyclists on U.S. Route 209, when he rode over some uneven pavement in the roadway, lost control of his bike, and was thrown from it. Despite Schleede's proper riding and helmet usage, he suffered a serious head injury and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Fred Tuman was headed west on Route 28 at about 1:25 p.m. when his vehicle was suddenly struck head-on by an eastbound car that had crossed over the center line. The driver of that vehicle has been identified as Brian Henderson. Tuman sustained significant injuries and was transported to the hospital, and Henderson sustained some minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene.

Andrew C. Wellington, 22, was found to be under the influence of alcohol when he was driving to the north on State Route 32 shortly before 8:00 p.m., drove over a double-yellow line, and collided with a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Travis Cole. Cole, his passenger Taylor Watzka, 23, and his 1-year-old son were all hospitalized with injuries deemed non-life threatening. Though there were two children in Wellington's car when he crash, thankfully neither of them were injured. Wellington has since faced multiple charges.

The family of a little boy who was the victim of a hit-and-run while crossing Koenig Boulevard Thursday is asking for privacy and thanking friends for their support. Amir Russ, 2, was at the intersection near Spring Brook Village in Kingston just after 10 p.m. when he was struck. The driver sped off, but witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored vehicle pulling away from the scene and traveling southbound on Koenig toward Port Ewen. Amir was upgraded from critical to serious condition Friday night, according to a spokesman at Westchester Medical Center.
