Buffalo, NYTOWN OF LOCKPORT – Police have identified the victim of Saturday’s fatal crash on Lake Avenue as Helen M. Wright, 78, of the Town of Newfane.
Investigators are unsure why Wright’s car left the roadway and crashed into a driveway culvert and mailbox, before striking a tree at 12:44 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and a probe into the cause of the crash is continuing.

Buffalo, NYTwo drivers were injured in a Wednesday morning crash at South Transit and Robinson Roads, in Lockport.
New York State Police say 52-year-old Joanna L. Felvus, of Newfane, was headed southbound on South Transit Road when her vehicle struck another vehicle head on. In that car, 23-year-old Alyssa M. Eggert, of Alden, was waiting to make a left turn onto Robinson Road.
A Rural Metro Ambulance transported Felvus to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A private vehicle took Eggert to the same hospital.
