An accident involving three tractor-trailers has shutdown the eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bucks County.

The accident happened at about 6 a.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike near the exit for Route 1 in Bensalem.
According to investigators, the accident involved three tractor-trailers.

As a result of the crash, several rolls of steel that were being hauled by one of the tractors involved in the crash smashed through a concrete barrier and ended up in the westbound lanes.

A chain accident involving 50 cars and one fatality Sunday afternoon has shut down the westbound section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between Downingtown and Morgantown.

A driver, whose identity has not been released, was involved in a one-vehicle accident while heading west when their vehicle slid and crashed just after snow started falling around 12:30 p.m., said a turnpike spokesman. When the motorist got out of their vehicle after the accident, they were hit by another vehicle and killed.

A road trip by a college women's lacrosse team came to a horrifying end Saturday when the team bus veered off the Pennsylvania Turnpike and crashed into a tree, killing a pregnant coach, her unborn child and the driver and injuring numerous others. Seton Hill University team players and coaches were among the 23 people aboard when the bus crashed just before 9 a.m. No other vehicle was involved, and police couldn't immediately say what caused the crash.
