Gerald Guse, 71, dies when his motorcycle collides with car on Route 1 in Orland, Maine

Guse was riding a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle when it crossed the centerline into the southbound lane at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday, colliding with a 1999 Volkswagon driven by Steven J. McDonough of Bangor. Guse was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he died despite wearing a helmet at the time of th crash. McDonough, 60, was minorly injured and taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth for treatment. His assengers Sarah E. McDonough, 34, Bevonny McDonough, 17, and Pepper Tilley, 7, were not hurt.
