Fatal crash under investigation in Milford, Route 1 southbound closed
Delaware State Police say the Milford Police Department asked the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit to take over an investigation into a fatal two vehicle crash. The incident apparently happened around 7:15 AM on Tuesday, on the southbound Milford Bypass - Route 1, at Northeast Front Street Extension.
Details emerge in fatal crash on Del. 1 in Milford
The crash occurred at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday when Nelson, operating a 2010 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Northeast Front Street collided with a 2013 Lincoln MKZ, driven by Melissa L. Mallet, 35, of Magnolia, Fournier said. Mallet was driving in the left lane of Del. 1 along with her son, Fournier said.
Nelson approached a stop sign, police say, and failed to remain stationary, entering the intersection of Milford Bypass (Del. 1) and crashing into Mallet's driver side door.
