A man in a wheelchair was crossing the street at or near the intersection when he was hit by a van near 34th Street and Thomas Road around 8 p.m. The Phoenix fire department responded to the crash and discovered the victim in severly critical condition, and he was pronounced dead of his injuries a short time later. Phoenix police say the roadway will likely be closed for several hours while Phoenix Police detectives investigate the accident. A 40-year-old man and his 6-year-old son are injured and in serious condition after being struck by a white SUV in Phoenix Wednesday evening. The accident occured around 6 p.m. near 32nd Street and Virginia Avenue. The SUV driver apparently didn't see the pair as they crossed the street that has been described as dimly lit. The investigation is ongoing.
