A suspected drunken driver has been arrested in connection with a crash that killed a Mesa man. 41-year-old Rabit Sergio Brenes Popoca is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder, criminal damage and endangerment. His bond was set at $100,000. Popoca allegedly was speeding when he rear-ended a vehicle Sunday night on Interstate 10, killing the driver identified as 54-year-old David Marc Eichner. Authorities say Popoca had been drinking at a soccer game in Glendale before the crash.

On Friday morning, a vehicle rolled out of the westbound lanes of the freeway and struck a light pole before it landing on its roof on the I-10 freeway embankment near 51st Avenue. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle. Check back for updates.
