Jacksonville, FLThe Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a serious crash on State Road 16 in the area of Lewis Speedway. A spokesman with FHP said two SUVs struck each other head-on around 10 p.m. Friday. Police said an SUV was traveling east on SR-16 at a high speed when it hit a curb, lost control and crossed over into oncoming traffic. Two occupants in that SUV, James Hamlin, 30, and Terresa Tomlinson, 58, were airlifted to UF Health in Jacksonville in serious condition.

Jacksonville, FLA bicyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Friday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the man was riding north in the bike on U.S. 1 south of State Road 312 lane when a red Dodge pickup truck turned onto the side street.
"The bicyclist, later identified as Richard Craig Layman, 51, took evasive action and veered into the right, southbound lane of U.S. 1, into the direct path of the Nissan Cube," said FHP Sgt. Joel Johnson. "The Nissan Cube struck the bicycle and bicyclist and they came to a final rest in the median there.”
