The Highway Patrol has now identified the man who was killed in a traffic accident on Highway 70 west of Salisbury Thursday night. Troopers say Faustino Lopez of Charlotte was killed when he hit a car head on. Trooper S.L. Herrin investigated a two vehicle crash on US 70 between Salisbury and Cleveland. Jerry Earnhardt of Salisbury, was driving a 1994 Buick traveling east on 70. Lopez was riding an orange and black moped and traveling west in the eastbound lanes. Lopez was wearing a silver helmet. The two vehicles collided head on and Lopez was killed.

A head-on crash took the lives of a man and woman early Friday morning just south of Salisbury. Keith Tillman, 34, and Jenny Williams, 31, both of Rowan County, died in the crash, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The wreck happened in the 4900 block of South Main Street near Grace Church Road around 1 a.m. The road was blocked for a few hours while emergency crews worked to clear the accident. The Highway Patrol says Tillman was driving south and crossed the center line, hitting Williams' car. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

A school bus full of elementary school children was hit by a car in Rowan County Tuesday morning. The crash was reported around 9:45 a.m. on Woodleaf Road in Rowan County just outside of Salisbury near W. Ridge Road. The school bus was bringing back 28 students from Woodleaf Elementary School who had gone to see a play at the Norvell Theater in downtown Salisbury. A car crossed the center line of the road hitting the bus head-on. A second bus full of students was behind the first bus, but it was not involved in the accident.

Police in Salisbury are investigating after pregnant woman was involved in a head-on crash that killed her unborn child. According to the Salisbury Police Department, officers were called to a crash along the 300 block of South Main Street near the intersection of West Horah St. around noon on Friday. Officers say a 2011 Chevrolet car and 2002 Ford pickup truck had struck head on. Witnesses told police that the driver of the Chevrolet, a pregnant woman, was driving left of center for about a block before the crash.
