Rodriguez was swerving in a white Chevy pickup on the south side of San Antonio, speeding. When he tried to turn onto the Interstate 35 access road he lost control and crashed into a pole.
One unidentified passenger died at the scene. Another passenger got out of the car and was picked up by another vehicle.

San Antonio, TXA habitual drunken driver who killed another motorist while driving the wrong way on U.S. 281 was sentenced by a jury Thursday morning to life in prison.
It took jurors in the 227th state District Court less than an hour to decide the punishment for Frances Rosalez Ford, 40, who began her trial earlier this week by pleading guilty to murder.
Prosecutors opted to charge her with murder rather than intoxication manslaughter because she caused a death during the commission of a felony — her third DWI.

San Antonio, TXAn off-duty Bexar County deputy was seriously injured in a crash involving an intoxicated driver late Sunday evening, according to authorities.
At around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, the deputy pulled over to help the driver of a Mustang who was reportedly the victim of a hit and run. Police said the off-duty deputy's vehicle was hit by an SUV before she could get out of her vehicle and assist the stranded motorist.
