A three-car collision in north Spokane on Thursday night around 8 p.m. injured two people. Two cars were driving north on Nevada Street at high speed when one struck an SUV attempting to turn in front of the cars. The first collision caused the first car to fly into the other speeding car at the intersection with Cozza Drive. The drivers of the two northbound cars were taken to the hospital, one with critical and the other with serious injuries. The driver and a passenger of the SUV were not injured. Nevada was closed for several hours as investigators worked at the scene.

A man was struck and killed by a pickup truck at the height of rush hour traffic while attempting to walk across 57th Avenue near Regal Street. The pedestrian was headed south across the street when he was hit by a GMC pickup driving eastbound shortly after 5 p.m. He was not crossing at a crosswalk. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup is cooperating with investigators. Deputies don’t believe impairment or negligent driving were factors in the accident.

A wrong-way driver collided with a Washington State Patrol cruiser on U.S. 195 on Wednesday afternoon. The trooper was attempting to stop the wrong-way driver near Excelsior Road, 3 miles south of Spokane shortly after 2 p.m. The trooper wasn’t injured, but an ambulance was ordered as a precaution to evaluate the other driver, whom the release described as “elderly.” The northbound lanes were partially blocked as investigators worked at the scene, but the roadway is now clear.

One person has died and eight people were injured in a series of accidents just west of Spokane this morning. The accidents have blocked Interstate 90 eastbound, and westbound traffic is moving stop-and-go. The accidents appear to have been caused by icy conditions on the road and drivers traveling too fast for the conditions. A pickup truck lost control near the overpass crossing West Medical Lake 4 Lakes Road. The pickup crossed the median and headed into oncoming traffic.

A 50-year-old man is in critical condition at a Spokane hospital after his car hit a wall under an overpass in Spokane Valley on Sunday night. Spokane County sheriff’s deputies suspect the man had been drinking. Deputies responded around 9 p.m. to the collision on Argonne Road just south of Trent Avenue. Witnesses said the man was driving south when his car jumped the center median and hit the wall underneath the train overpass on the east side of the road. The man was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown partially out of the front windshield.

Spokane County sheriff’s deputies took a suicidal man wanted for arson into custody Wednesday when his car caught fire following a high speed chase. A caller reported Brian Olson, 29, was threatening to kill himself near the area of 20000 N. Holcomb Road. Olson had a warrant for his arrest in connection to an arson investigation at 403 W. Barnes Road. The caller told dispatch that Olson had left the residence. Deputies found him traveling near the area of Bruce Street and Peone Road and tried to stop his vehicle. Olson refused to stop and fled the scene.

A 15-year-old driver speeding faster than 100 mph before crashing into a Spokane Valley power pole Friday night was taking a couple of intoxicated friends to get tacos, according to police reports. Investigators want blood samples from the unlicensed driver. A 14-year-old passenger in the back seat who suffered a broken foot in the crash along the 3700 block of North Harvard Road in the Otis Orchards area said he saw the speedometer top 120 mph. A 17-year-old boy in the front seat remained in critical condition at a hospital Monday.

A 15-year-old driver crashed a car into a power pole Friday night, wrapping the vehicle around the pole and injuring the two passengers inside. At 11 p.m., Spokane County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at 3700 N. Harvard Road, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The unlicensed driver had been driving about 100 miles an hour, a 14-year-old boy who was sitting the back seat told deputies. The 14-year-old received minor injuries, and the 17-year-old who was sitting in the front seat was transported to a local hospital. He was listed in critical condition.

Kelsey Heidecker, a 20-year-old woman, died Saturday morning after a semitruck she was a passenger in struck a tree on State Route 195. At 7 a.m., a semitruck driver, 21-year-old Braden Bundy, fell asleep at the wheel. He drove off the road and into a tree, totaling his truck about 12 miles south of Spokane. His passenger, Ms. Heidecker, died at the scene. Bundy was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center with injuries. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Criminal charges are pending for Mr. Bundy.

At 7 a.m., a semitruck driver, 21-year-old Braden Bundy, fell asleep at the wheel. He drove off the road and into a tree , totaling his truck about 12 miles south of Spokane. His passenger, 20-year-old Kelsey Heidecker, died at the scene.
