Two women were killed and a passenger injured, in a single-vehicle accident that occurred yesterday along Interstate 80 in Auburn. According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred about noon on Thursday when the driver, for unknown reasons, lost control of the vehicle. The car was in the fast lane traveling westbound on Interstate 80, west of Nevada Street. The vehicle swerved across all westbound lanes of traffic onto the shoulder, slamming into an embankment and light pole causing the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle ended up on its wheels in lanes of traffic.

Two Taylorsville men died from injuries sustained in an early Monday morning crash on Interstate 80 near the Salt Lake-Tooele county line.

The Utah Highway Patrol identified the victims as Spencer W. Gardner, 28, and Andrew J. Harrie, 30.

About 3:30 a.m. Monday, Gardner was driving his black 2006 Scion eastbound when he drifted off the freeway and rolled about 10 miles west of Salt Lake City.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, but troopers were considering the possibility that Gardner fell asleep at the wheel.

A Rancho Cordova man was killed and a Sacramento man injured early Monday morning when their truck crashed on Interstate 80 in Vallejo. Adrian Aponte, 19, a passenger in the 2012 Freightliner two-axle box truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 3:24 a.m., according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The driver, 24-year-old Hilario C. Ramirez, sustained minor injuries.

A Pensacola, Florida, man has died in a crash on a Nebraska roadway.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that 45-year-old Frank Schofield died Sunday afternoon in a single vehicle crash on Interstate 80 two miles east of Elm Creek in central Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Schofield was driving a pickup eastbound when it crossed the median and both lanes of westbound traffic, then rolled.

The Patrol says Schofield was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the pickup.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he was pronounced dead.
