Caballero-Orta was out jogging at about 6:00am, and was crossing Curtola Parkway when she was struck by a vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter. 24-year-old Jesus Oseguera of Sacramento told police he fell asleep at the wheel while driving a rent-a-truck carrying FedEx packages Tuesday morning. The incident occured on Interstate 80 near Hunter Hill rest area around 3:10 a.m. when Oseguera nodded off and almost hit the back of another truck. He swerved, causing his truck to overturn. Oseguera climbed out of the truck and suffered neck and leg pain. Police ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash.

A Rancho Cordova man was killed and a Sacramento man injured early Monday morning when their truck crashed on Interstate 80 in Vallejo. Adrian Aponte, 19, a passenger in the 2012 Freightliner two-axle box truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 3:24 a.m., according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The driver, 24-year-old Hilario C. Ramirez, sustained minor injuries.

A 25-year-old man was killed when he crashed his Lexus during a police chase in Vallejo on Tuesday night, authorities said. A Vallejo police Lt. said officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving 10 people and someone with a gun in the 200 block of Lofas Place around 10:15 p.m. A car, described by the California Highway Patrol as a 1995 Lexus, was seen driving away from the scene and was chased by a Vallejo police officer, police said.

The weather may have played a role in a horrific accident in Vallejo that happened Tuesday night. A man was hit by a car and then dragged by another one. He did not survive. The Vallejo man, who was disabled, was first hit at Broadway and Hogan and then dragged nearly a mile to the intersection of Mini and Stanford Drive. It was 6 p.m., dark and the roads were wet. So weather is definitely a factor that investigators are examining. Witnesses say the 89-year-old driver of a Mercedes didn't realize he had dragged a pedestrian nearly half a mile down the road until he was flagged down.
