A northbound white pickup truck driven by Coloe Munoz, 32, allegedly ran a red light in West Jordan Tuesday morning, triggering the three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Redwood Road at 8200 South. After running the red light, the pickup hit a silver car, forcing it into the southbound lanes hundreds of feet down the road and into a dry drainage canal and killing its driver, William Horner. A passenger in the car, Horner's granddaughter, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

After Vigil was struck by the car, he was taken to Intermountain Medical Center before being pronounced dead. The driver who hit Vigil will not receive any charges, as Vigil was not in a crosswalk, was in dark-colored clothes, and had likely been drinking.
