An Oklahoma man died Saturday after the pickup he was driving struck a car on State Highway 82 in Cherokee County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
About 3 p.m., Robert Hutchison, 59, of Park Hill, was driving south about two miles south of Tahlequah. The pickup struck a southbound car driven by Steven Springwater, 40, also of Park Hill, who was waiting for northbound traffic to pass so he could make a left turn, troopers said.
Hutchison, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to a hospital in Tahlequah, where he died, troopers said.
Authorities have identified the two people injured in a plane crash near Lake Tenkiller in eastern Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 75-year John McCreary and 85-year-old Albert DeMarco Jr. were injured when their single-engine plane went down Saturday in Cherokee County. The highway patrol said both men are from Ozark.
Witnesses at the airport reported hearing apparent engine trouble and saw the plane flying just above the treetops shortly before the crash. The plane was found in the wooded area of a pasture on Saturday.
