Dayton, OHThomas Sweigard, 53, of Columbus, was approaching a construction zone in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Route 4 in Clark County late Thursday night when he changed lanes to pass slowed traffic. Sweigard, whom witnesses reported was driving at a hight speed, rear-ended a semi, and his van was crushed under the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dayton, OHRichard Gruber, 65, and his granddaughter, Sophia Gruber, 12, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Olivia Gruber, 10, Sophia's younger sister, is at Dayton Children's Hospital. Lewis E. Chambers, 54, of Springfield, was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer north on Dayton-Springfield Road at 3:36 p.m.
