Buffalo, NYA 31-year-old Ohio woman was arrested overnight for snowmobiling while intoxicated after she crashed into an ice fishing shanty, narrowly missing the three occupants, on Chautauqua Lake, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Chautauqua County deputies responded at 1 a.m. to the reported accident. They found that Christina M. Black, of Burghill, Ohio, had been operating a 2006 Ski-Doo snowmobile northbound on the lake’s frozen surface, about 200 yards from the shore of Lakeside Park in Mayville, when she struck the shanty, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

San Bernardino, CAA tow truck driver was critically injured after a hit-and-run driver slammed into him on the side of the road in Bloomington.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday when a tow truck driver with Aslan Towing out of Riverside was called to pick up a yellow Chevy Camaro on a bridge over rail road tracks near the 10200 block of Cedar Avenue.
The road is very narrow and has no shoulder.
As the tow truck driver was putting the Camaro onto the flat bed of his truck, California Highway Patrol officials say someone driving a silver Nissan Altima slammed into him at high speed.

Chicago, ILA man and five children were hurt in a single-vehicle crash Friday on the Far South Side.
A 2000 Ford Expedition was travelling west on 103rd Street about 9:50 a.m. when it turned right onto South Cottage Grove Avenue, lost control and hit a light pole, police said.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, and four girls–a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old and two 14-year-olds–were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, police said.
A 3-year-old girl was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.

Buffalo, NYA one-car crash into a utility pole in the 5900 block of Robinson Road at 4:35 p.m. Sunday is being blamed on speed and drunken driving.
Michael A. Neuland, 20, of Saunders Settlement Road, was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely, reckless driving and speeding.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, MNA 22-year-old Maple Grove man died Saturday in a snowmobile crash in north-central Minnesota, authorities said.
According to a statement from the Todd County Sheriff’s Office released Sunday:
Authorities received a report of a missing man at 11:23 a.m. Saturday.
Friends of Jared Wallenfelsz said they had last seen him driving a snowmobile away from his family’s cabin on Long Lake about 1:30 a.m. that morning.

Buffalo, NYAided by a witness who followed a hit-and-run driver, police arrested a Youngstown woman on a variety of charges early Saturday stemming from an accident on the Robert Moses Parkway.
According to reports, the suspect struck a car driven by a Youngstown man around 5:30 a.m., then drove away from the scene. A witness to the accident followed the fleeing driver, and sheriff’s deputies were able to stop her car on Blairville Road a short time later. Carole R. Rossi displayed signs of intoxication and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.16, twice the legal limit, police said.

Los Angeles, CAA driver fleeing police Friday collided head-on with another car, bailed out on foot, then failed to scale a fence before throwing himself to the ground and surrendering to police.
The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Carl Smith.
The pursuit started just before 3 p.m. near Florence Avenue and Flower Street in South Los Angeles, police said.
The pursuit wound through streets for about 30 minutes. At one point the vehicle nearly hit a truck.
The chase transitioned to the Century (105) Freeway, clocking speeds of 100, before going back onto the streets.

Buffalo, NYA 21-year-old motorist who drove into a house in Alden early today had a blood-alcohol content that was more than three times the legal limit, Erie County sheriff’s deputies reported.
Zachary E. Olejniczak of Alden was heading north on Two Rod Road, shortly before 12:30 a.m., when he failed to stop at the intersection of Westwood Road, deputies said. His car went across the road and crashed into a home at 11664 Westwood Road, causing significant damage to the foundation.
The people who live there were home at the time but not injured, deputies said.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, MNOne of two snowmobiles riding together crashed into an unoccupied ice fishing trailer on a western Wisconsin lake late at night, killing a 20-year-old woman riding behind the drunken operator on the trailing machine, authorities said Thursday.
The crash occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday on Bone Lake, southeast of Luck, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman suffered “severe head injuries” despite wearing a helmet, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Thursday, January 9, 2014A teenage girl died and another was injured in a high-speed wreck on an isolated street near the Port of Oakland early Friday morning, an area known for illegal street racing.
Police officers responding to reports of an accident just after midnight on the 500 block of Maritime Street found that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a pole, officials said.
The girls in the vehicle, both 17-year-olds from outside Oakland, were taken to a hospital, where the driver, who has been identified as Kaitlyn Benson, was later pronounced dead.
