Eugene, ORAn 80-year-old man from Bandon and a 64-year-old woman from San Francisco have been identified as the two people killed in a head-on collision along U.S. 101 near Bandon on Monday.
OSP said that the incident was reported about 3:30 p.m. According to the investigation, it appears a southbound Honda Accord driven by Donald William Dodge of Bandon "for unknown reasons" crossed the centerline into the northbound lane and collided with a Honda Element being driven by Virginia Simpson Woodson. OSP said both drivers died at the scene.

Eugene, OROregon State Police have identified the man who died in a vehicle accident along U.S. 101 Monday afternoon as Bruce Norman Ashton of Lakeside.
OSP responded to the accident about 1:15 .m. Monday. When officers arrived at the scene, the found that Ashton, 68, had been driving along the highway in a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche near Kendall Estates Lane when the truck went off the pavement and hit several trees.
First responders found that Ashton was dead at the scene, even though he was using his seatbelt and the Avalanche’s airbags had deployed.
