Cromwell police and fire crews responded to the McDonald's at 30 Shunpike Road at 5:40 a.m. after report of a motor vehicle crash. When officers arrived at the scene a raging fire had engulfed the car in the back parking lot and smoke was rising from the vehicle. Fire put out the fire shortly after, but police learned that the driver was still inside and found him dead in the driver's seat.
