All lanes are now open after a fatal motorcycle crash snarled southbound traffic on Interstate 95 for more than three hours.

One person was killed when a motorcycle collided with a car on southbound I-95, just north of the Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard exit, said a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash left traffic backed up to Blue Heron Boulevard.

Authorites were still trying tonight to contact family of the person who died and have not released the person’s name.

At least one person has sustained life-threatening injuries after a serious crash on Interstate 95 in Lexington.

The crash happened on the southbound side of the highway, near the Burlington Mall.

A red pickup truck came to rest on its side in the middle of the highway. A white sedan also appears to have been involved.

State Police tweeted a photograph of a blue mattress in the middle of the highway. There’s no word on whether that mattress caused the accident.

The left lane remains open but traffic is backed up.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a driver in an overnight hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 South. A driver hit a car at about 1:15 a.m. Monday on I-95, just north of Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach. FHP said no one was seriously hurt, but the truck connected to the crash was later found. The driver was arrested and charged with DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident. FHP has not released the name of the person facing charges.

A portion of I-95 southbound is closed in the Dumfries, Va., area following a deadly accident and fire.

Virginia State Police responded to the two-vehicle crash near exit 152 around 11:15 a.m. Friday. One of the drivers died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with serious injuries.

Police say all of the victims are adults.

A Jacksonville man was killed Thursday morning after he tried to help his daughter-in-law who was stranded on I-95 just north of International Golf Parkway, according to FHP. FHP said 61-year-old Patricia Ann Harris became stranded in the northbound lanes of I-95 and called her father-in-law, 82-year-old Charles Burnice Sherrill, for help. FHP said Sherrill parked in the southbound median and tried to cross the northbound lanes to get to her. That's when FHP said Sherrill was hit and killed by multiple vehicles. FHP said all vehicles are still at the scene and cooperating.

Maine State Police say a 47-year-old man has been killed after his car ran off Interstate 95, down an embankment into a ditch in Hermon.

Thomas Ellingwood of Hampden died in the crash around 2:45 p.m. Monday. He was his vehicle’s only occupant.

Ellingwood was in driving in the southbound lane of I-95 when his car went down the embankment. It rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a ditch.

Troopers say weather was not a factor and the accident is being investigated.

One person is dead and several were injured in a crash that closed the left and center lanes of the Baldwin Bridge on I-95 South in Old Lyme on Monday.

The crash involved three cars and a box truck and happened just before 11:30 a.m.

According to state police, an Acura Integra driven by Evelyn Rivera, of New Haven, broke down on the southbound side of the bridge. The car was then struck by a Ryder rental truck, police said.

Rivera's passenger, 58-year-old Nidia Vargas, of New Haven, was killed in the crash.

A motorist died after a four-vehicle crash on I-95 Monday, police said.

The crash, which involved three cars and a box truck, was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. It happened in the southbound lanes, in the area of the Baldwin Bridge, said the state police.

The left and center lanes of the highway were closed, according to the state Department of Transportation.

A Georgia man was killed in a crash Monday night on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County. At 11:27 p.m., a Nissan Maximan driven by Tahseen Tanzil, 26, of Lilburn, Ga., went off the road and rolled over into a pond on southbound I-95 at Belvedere Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The car came to rest partially submerged in the pond on its rooftop. The ramp to Belvedere Road was closed for a period of time but back open by 5 a.m. Tanzil was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center but later pronounced dead. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Interstate 95 has reopened after being shut down for several hours after a tractor-trailer crash near the airport early Friday morning.

The accident happened at about 3:00 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes at Island Avenue near the Philadelphia International Airport.
A tractor trailer lost control and tipped over on its side.

As a result of the crash, police closed I-95 at Broad Street to motorists.

It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
