Southington Police have identified the man killed in a one car crash Thursday afternoon.
Police say that William Mazo, 19, of Middlefield, was driving a Chevy Avalanche on Meriden Ave. just before 3 p.m. when the SUV crossed over the double yellow line.
The SUV left the roadway and traveled for several hundred feet before colliding with a tree.
Mazo was pronounced dead at the scene. David Lanning, 20, also of Middlefield, was a passenger in the car. Lanning was trasported to Hartford Hospital by Lifestar.
A pedestrian was killed Monday night after being hit by a car in the area of 800 Silver Lane, police at the scene said.
An accident reconstruction squad was called in to investigate the accident, which was reported at 7:24 p.m.
The victim, a 51-year-old local man, was taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries and later died, police said.
No charges have been filed against the driver and early indications are that the pedestrian stepped into traffic.
Five people have been taken to the hospital after a two-car crash at Sedgwick Road and Riggs Avenue in West Hartford this morning.
The injuries are described as “light to moderate.”
The road remains open and a sand truck was called to deice the area.

A 41-year-old woman was killed late Thursday when the vehicle she was driving fell off I-84 and landed on a road below after a crash with another vehicle, state police said.
The woman has been identified as Marie White.
White was driving a 2003 Saab west on the highway when it collided with a westbound 1998 Nissan Maxima near Exit 48, state police said.
White's vehicle went over the concrete barrier and landed on the Capitol Avenue ramp leading onto I-84 westbound, state police said. She was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Wethersfield on Tuesday evening.
It happened around 5:45 p.m. on Jordan Lane in the area of Buckland Street, according to police.
The pedestrian has not been identified. It's not clear how badly injured the victim may be, but police said they're treating it as a serious accident.
Jordan Lane was closed between the Silas Deane Highway and Wolcott Hill Road for several hours while authorities investigated and worked to clear the scene.
A police officer checking on a car that had crashed into a pole on Enfield Street early Tuesday found a man in the back seat who had been shot and a front seat passenger holding 39 bags of heroin.
Fernando Polentino, 24, has been charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell but could face more charges.
"We're not done with charges yet," said police.
The shooting victim is undergoing surgery at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, he said.
