Whatcom County Jail
The Jail is located in the Public Safety Building at corner of Central and Prospect Streets, opposite the entrance to Sheriff's Office. Jail entrance is off Central Street, in between Prospect Street and Grand Avenue.

Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney
The Prosecuting Attorney is an elected position, partisan, 4-year term. Duties are established by state constitution and statutes. The mission of the office is to represent the interests of the State of Washington in the prosecution of criminal actions occurring within Whatcom County; to provide legal advice to County officials and employees; to represent and defend the County in all civil actions in which the County is a party.
Whatcom County Public Defender
This office was created in 1982 by constitutional mandate, to provide indigent legal defense for felony, misdemeanor and probation violation charges against adults and juveniles in Whatcom County Superior and District courts, and involuntary mental and alcohol commitments.
Whatcom County Superior Court
Washington has 39 Superior Courts, one in each of Washington's 39 counties. Superior Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in Washington. A Superior Court may consider all civil and criminal matters occurring within a county's boundary. The Superior Court also has exclusive jurisdiction over civil matters in which the amount in controversy is more than $75,000, felony cases, estate and probate matters, family law cases(including divorces and child custody hearings), and juvenile proceedings. They act as a court of appeal for cases from the District and Municipal Courts.
Whatcom County District Court
Washington State district and municipal courts may consider civil and criminal matters related to misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic, non-traffic, and parking infractions, domestic violence protection orders, civil actions of $75,000 or less, and small claims up to $5,000.
Whatcom County Bar Association
The Whatcom County Bar Association (WCBA) draws its members from the legal community in and around Bellingham, Washington. WCBA exists to promote the administration of justice, to cultivate goodwill among its members and the community, and to support the continuing education goals of its members.
LAW Advocates
Legal Assistance by Whatcom (LAW) Advocates is a non-profit organization which interviews and refers eligible low-income Whatcom County residents to a panel of local attorneys, who volunteer their time to provide free or low cost civil legal help. A family law staff attorney provides help in domestic violence cases. Interpreter services are available on site.
