Friday, October 17, 2014The Mississippi Highway Patrol was dispatched to Highway 6 in Pontotoc County at 10:51 p.m. in response to a head-on collision near Thaxton. It appeared that Luke C. Phillips, 19, of Olive Branch, was traveling east in the west-bound lanes of Highway 6 when his Nissan ELS crashed head-on with a Mazda MPV driven by Lloyd Nellams, 43, of Hampton, Virginia. Phillips died at the scene, while Nellams was flown to North Mississippi Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Thursday, February 27, 2014The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a head-on collision that killed three people in Pontotoc County.
At 8:35 p.m. on Friday night, troopers were dispatched to the crash scene located on Highway 6, near Beulah Grove Road.
The preliminary investigation indicates Margel Swann, 51, of New Albany, was driving a 1995 Isuzu pick-up east bound in the west bound lanes of the highway when his vehicle collided head-on into a 2004 Honda Accord, driven by Connie Malone, 43, of Thaxton.
