On Sunday afternoon, 20-year-old Valley resident Jacob Craft was driving a Ford Bronco when the SUV left the road and struck a culvert and then a tree. Passenger Brian Keith Lee, 21, of Cusseta, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, killing him. Craft and a second passenger were injured, though the extent of their injuries was not released.  The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released any additional details surrounding the crash.

Well-known East Alabama musician Edwin "Peck" Rowell  was killed on Wednesday when a Volkswagen Jetta driven by an 18-year-old Auburn man crossed the center line and struck the Ford Ranger Rowell was riding in head on near the intersection of Richland Road on Shug Jordan Parkway in Lee County, Alabama. Rowell was airlifted to University Hospital in Birmingham, where he died of multiple injuries. The driver of the Ranger, a 40-year-old woman from Notasulga, along with the 18-year-old Auburn man sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Brent Lowry was riding in the bed of a truck that was driving on Lee County Road 150 when the vehicle left the road and overturned. Lowry was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Three other teens who were also riding in the truck were injured and transported to a local medical center for treatment.

Two Beulah High School teens and members of the football team were seriously injured in a car crash on Wednesday Oct. 8, on Lee Road 262 off Lee Road 276 in Beulah. We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
