Columbus, GATwo cars collided head-on just south of Beauregard High School on Highway 51, sending five people to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown. Four were taken to East Alabama Medical Center, and one was airlifted to Midtown Medical Center. Check back for more details.

Columbus, GAWell-known East Alabama musician Edwin "Peck" Rowell was killed on Wednesday when a Volkswagen Jetta driven by an 18-year-old Auburn man crossed the center line and struck the Ford Ranger Rowell was riding in head on near the intersection of Richland Road on Shug Jordan Parkway in Lee County, Alabama. Rowell was airlifted to University Hospital in Birmingham, where he died of multiple injuries. The driver of the Ranger, a 40-year-old woman from Notasulga, along with the 18-year-old Auburn man sustained non-life threatening injuries.
