At least two people were killed when a small plane crashed into a retention pond in a Sandalwood neighborhood not far from Craig Airport, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The Cesna 310 went down about 6:20 p.m. in a retention pond in the back yard of a home on Nettington Court, in the Sutton Lakes neighborhood off Atlantic Boulevard

A paraglider pilot was killed after crashing through a frozen river in upstate New York Wednesday afternoon, state police say. The pilot, 47-year-old Rupert Cebular, crashed while practicing touch-and-go maneuvers on the ice-covered Wallkill River near Soons Orchard in Orange County, police say. The man broke through the ice and lost control of the paraglider. A second paraglider and workers nearby tried to pull Cebular from under the ice using a rope, but were unsuccessful. They eventually pulled his body from the river.

A city spokesman says five children rescued from a car that veered off a highway ramp in suburban Minneapolis and landed in a holding pond were unresponsive when they were pulled from the water. City spokesman Jamie Zwilling was on the scene of the accident Thursday morning in St. Louis Park at Highways 7 and 100. Zwilling says the mother of the children made it out of the car when it landed in the water but that the children were in the submerged car for about 20 minutes.

A 14-year-old boy was killed Thursday night in a crash in Seabeck, said officials with the Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue. The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. in the area of Seabeck Holly Road and Larson Lane. Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue received a call in reference to a crash at the location.  When crews arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle off the roadway and upside down in a creek. Two teens inside the vehicle got themselves out, but a third teen was trapped inside as the vehicle as it filled with water. Crews extricated the boy and started performing CPR.
