One person was killed at about 4 a.m. when a vehicle rolled and the driver was ejected from the vehicle on I-82 just north of Wapato Road near Union Gap in Yakima County, Washington. Icy roads are being blamed for the accident. According to a Washington State Patrol press memo, the driver is identified as Travis C. A semi-truck crashed into a car that spun out on icy Interstate 82 south of Ellensburg on Sunday morning, injuring two, the Washington State Patrol reported. Teresita Ronquillo of Federal Way was driving east at about 10:50 a.m. approximately 20 miles south of Ellensburg on I-82 when she lost control on the icy roadway and spun out in front of a tractor trailor driven by Gerald Krupp 63, of Caldwell, Idaho. Ronquillo’s 2002 Ford Focus two-door sedan was totaled, and Ronquillo and her passenger, Steven Schmele of Federal Way were treated and released at KVH Hospital in Ellensburg.

Teresita Ronquillo was driving in a car with passenger Steven Schmele on Interstate 82 when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road and span out in fron of a tractor-trailer driven by Gerald Krupp, 63. The tractor-trailer struck the car, damaging it beyond repair. Ronquillo and Schmele were transported to the emergency room where they remain in good condition. Krupp was not injured. Ronquillo will reportedly be charged for driving too fast for conditions.
