A husband and wife were killed Friday morning when their pickup slammed into a tree on the westbound 10 Freeway in San Bernardino County.

Officers responded to the truck crash around 3:45 a.m. in Bloomington, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of a red Ford F-150 lost control of the truck after an issue with a tire and collided with a tree off the freeway, an officer on the scene said.

The man was ejected from the vehicle and the pickup caught fire, officials said. Another person also suffered minor injuries in the wreck, authorities said.

One person died and nine others were injured when a van plunged down the side of the 10 Freeway early Thursday.

California Highway Patrol officers say the crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. when the driver of a 2006 Ford Econoline van approached slowing traffic on the westbound 10 just west of Cedar Avenue. He hit the brakes and lost control.

“As the van left the freeway lanes, it struck a tree and began to overturn and eventually landed in a drainage ditch,” said CHP Officer Leon Lopez.

Three people suffered major injuries and six received minor to moderate injuries.
