One person killed, nine others injured, 3 seriously, all transported to hospital, after a van leaves the roadway on the 10 Freeway near Bloomington, and crashes into a tree before overturning.
Bloomington crash on 10 Freeway kills one, injures nine.
One man dies, nine other people are injured in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10.
One person died and nine others were injured when a van plunged down the side of the 10 Freeway early Thursday.
California Highway Patrol officers say the crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. when the driver of a 2006 Ford Econoline van approached slowing traffic on the westbound 10 just west of Cedar Avenue. He hit the brakes and lost control.
“As the van left the freeway lanes, it struck a tree and began to overturn and eventually landed in a drainage ditch,” said CHP Officer Leon Lopez.
Three people suffered major injuries and six received minor to moderate injuries.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lopez said several people in the van were not wearing seatbelts.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
Even though the incident didn’t block any lanes, traffic slowed through Colton during the morning commute.
