According North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, at around 6 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Antoinette Drive and U.S. 421/Carolina Beach Road near Monkey Junction a woman was westbound on Antoinette Drive when her car went off the road and into a ditch in front of a cemetery. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, who were wearing seatbelts, were in the vehicle at the time and were not injured. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

It was approximately 4:10 a.m. when a 17-year-old girl who was driving south on U.S. 19 somehow lost control of her vehicle, and it began to roll. The girl, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, which came to rest at the intersection with Frontage Road. She was taken to the hospital with injuries described as "major".
