Veteran 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon died in a cab collision on New York's West Side Wednesday night. The livery cab that Simon was a passenger in was in a crash at about 6:45 pm when the driver lost control and collided with another vehicle and a lamp post at West 32nd Street and 12th Avenue. Simon was transported to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in critical condition, and died soon after. The drivers of both vehicles involved sustained minor injuries.

Wesley Mensing of Scotch Plains and an as-yet unnamed woman were crossing a street Saturday evening on the Upper East Side of Manhattan when a Mercedes-Benz SUV hit the two pedestrians. The woman, 30, is hospitalized in stable condition. The SUV driver, 45, received an unlicensed-driving ticket.

Famous U2 frontman was bicycling in Central Park when he attempted to avoid another rider and crashed his bicycle, suffering several serious injuries including three separate fractures of his left shoulder blade, a fracture of his left humerus bone in his upper arm, and a facial fracture involving the orbit of his eye. He endured five-hours of surgery on Sunday to help repair his arm. The other members of U2 expect he will make a full recovery and will be able to play again soon.
