State police have identified the three people killed in a crash Tuesday morning in Phelps, a town in Ontario County. Mary Heidenreich, 56; Robert Abbott, 77, and Kent Frazer, 51, were killed in the three-vehicle crash. Police said 71-year-old Richard Rhinevault, 71, was heading west on Bostwick Road around 10:49 a.m. when he ran a stop sign and crashed into an SUV that was driving north on State Route 14. Robert Abbott and Kent Frazer were passengers in the SUV and were declared dead at the scene, according to police.

Cody Samuels, 27, a soldier stationed at Fort Drum in New York died in a single-car accident close to the army base. Samuels was driving on state Route 180 in the town of Orleans when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle went off the road and into a farm field, where it was caught in electric wire and flipped. Samuels, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. The incident occured around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, October 14 in Jefferson County.

The town office in Hopewell, along with the highway department, was closed Wednesday and will remain closed until Monday as employees mourn the loss of Lee Schutt, 57. "Lee was a very dedicated and loyal employee. an excellent mechanic," said Town Supervisor Margaret Hilton. Schutt was driving a town highway pickup truck at the time of Tuesday's crash in Farmington. Deputies said a grain truck swerved to avoid hitting a wheel that fell off of another vehicle when it tipped over and landed on Schutt's truck. He died at the scene.

A 31-year-old woman has died in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer rig on the New York State Thruway.

State police say Deborah McDonald of Rochester was killed late Friday morning when her eastbound car crossed the center median into the westbound lanes of the highway, and slammed into the truck. The accident happened between exits 44 and 43 in the town of Farmington.

McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene. Her young daughter escaped with only minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Rochester.

57-year-old Barry Scutt from Batavia is dead following a wrong-way crash in Canandaigua on Saturday. The accident happened on Route 5 around 3 p.m. when 68-year-old Steven Kloos was driving west on Route 5 when he lost control and blacked out at the wheel due to a medical condition. Kloos then struck a mailbox and road sign with his car according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office. Kloos' vehicle then continued westbound on Route 5 in the eastbound lane and struck 57 year old Barry Scutt head on.
