One person died Wednesday when a vehicle lost control on I-5 in Federal Way about 12:20 p.m. July 31. A Honda Accord was traveling northbound on I-5 to the eastbound State Route 18 ramp. The vehicle lost control and rolled several times. Both occupants were ejected, and the vehicle caught fire. The passenger, Billy Powell Jr., 21, was declared dead. The driver, a 27-year-old female from Shelton, was transported to St. Francis Hospital with injuries.

The three Crystal Mountain employees in their 20s, two men and a woman, were not on duty when their vehicle lost traction and crashed on a maintenance road at the ski area Wednesday night. The two men are food service employees and the woman is a gondola operator.

Raymond Joseph Lewis III was the alleged driver of a car that fled a convenience store Wednesday after the car’s occupants allegedly stole beer and roughed up the clerk from a Chevron in the 7200 block of McKinley Avenue. Lewis allegedly fled at a high-rate of speed and crashed the car near East 64th and M streets early Wednesday.
