Wednesday, April 9, 2014A 53-year-old Lompoc man was killed in a rear-end collision Thursday night along Highway 1, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 8:48 p.m., just south of Highway 135.
Officers say the driver of a truck pulling a flatbed trailer was headed southbound on Highway 1 at speeds between 35 and 45 miles per hour when the Lompoc man, driving a silver Mercedes, slammed into the rear end of the truck at an unsafe rate of speed.
The Mercedes became trapped underneath the trailer, the CHP said.
