Raleigh-Durham, NCAlbert Larry Scholting of St. Petersburg, Florida was charged with reckless driving in a 4 a.m. crash on I-95 near exit 145 north of Rocky Mount in Nash County. Scholting was driving south when he drove off the right side of the highway and struck first a guardrail, then a bridge overpass, coming to rest against the bridge abutment, according to troopers. The truck was carrying ramen noodles, and the force of the collision ripped the trailer open, spilling noodles all over the roadway. Southbound lanes of I-95 remained closed until 3:30 p.m.

Richmond-Petersburg, VAWillie A. Ward, 40, a truck driver, died Monday after pulling over on Interstate 95 to inspect his truck. The incident occured around 1:20 a.m. on October 13 when the driver of a Ford box truck, Paul E. Sharpless, 66, swerved off the road and hit Ward while he got out of his truck. The box truck overturned on the on ramp. Sharpless sustained minor injuries and refused treatment. Ward was taken to Southern VA Regional Medical center, where he died. Sharpless was charged with reckless driving.
