Around 4 p.m. officers in Fort Wayne responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a truck that was hauling pigs. The pigs somehow managed to escape from the truck, forcing the road to be closed for several hours while authorities rounded up the animals.

A 32-year-old man died Friday night after he was shot and later crashed into a tree in Syracuse's South Side neighborhood. Police responded to the 600 block of Bellevue Avenue around 9:20 p.m. after reports of shots fired in the area. Police then found a dark-colored Volvo crashed into a tree near the intersection of Bellevue and Palmer avenues. The driver was sent to Upstate University Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after. The man died from the collision and was not hit by any of the bullets.

Carl Schmedeke, who was driving the dump truck, lost control as he tried to avoid a car that had slowed to make a left turn; the dump truck began to overturn. Unfortunately, right as this was happening, Judith Sandlin was underneath the tipping truck in a minivan. Judith managed to not be completely destroyed by the truck by swerving to the right, but it still pinned her inside her car. Fortunately, the worst injury she suffered was a broken wrist.
