A 25-year-old man has been arrested after causing a collision that injured five people in Anchorage on Tuesday evening. Matthew Duwayne Weedman is charged with five counts of felony assault and a misdemeanor charge of leaving a crash site. Weedman ran a red light while traveling south on C Street, and T-boned a northbound sport utility vehicle turning left onto Dimond Boulevard. Two adults and three children in the SUV were injured. Police say Weedman fled from the crash site. He was arrested early Wednesday as he tried to get medical treatment.

Two children were ejected from a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision in Flint Monday evening near the intersection of Minnesota and Mabel. Authorities say they were not wearing seat belts. Nikko Sincere Germani, 12, died from his injuries. The others involved are expected to recover. A vehicle ran a stop sign and broadsided the car the kids were traveling in and then left the scene. Police found the other driver and arrested him. They say he had been drinking and was speeding, and will face criminal charges.
